cayleypy.models.ResMlpModel

class cayleypy.models.ResMlpModel(config: ModelConfig)[source]

Multi-layer perceptron with residual (skip) connections.

Deep perceptrons with skip connections are easier to train than plain ones, so this model is usually a better backbone than MlpModel when many hidden layers are needed.

Consumes one-hot encoded states, applies residual blocks described by layers_sizes (i.e. there are len(layers_sizes) blocks and i-th block has layers_sizes[i] neurons), then a linear output layer with n_outputs neurons. Each block is Linear+LayerNorm+ReLU and adds its input to its output. Blocks that change the number of features (e.g. the first block, which consumes the one-hot encoded state) have no skip connection, so layers_sizes=[512, 512, 512] means one projection followed by two residual blocks.

Output has shape [n_states] when n_outputs == 1, and shape [n_states, n_outputs] otherwise. Setting n_outputs to the number of generators of a graph gives a Q-model, which estimates distances for all children of a state in a single forward pass (see cayleypy.Predictor.score_children()).

forward(x: Tensor) → Tensor[source]

Define the computation performed at every call.

Should be overridden by all subclasses.

Note

Although the recipe for forward pass needs to be defined within this function, one should call the Module instance afterwards instead of this since the former takes care of running the registered hooks while the latter silently ignores them.
